NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The company responsible for a sunken vessel in Abaco waters has not been hit with a fine.

You may recall that back in December the distressed M/V Onego Traveller sank in waters around hole in the wall, South Abaco after the vessel started taking on water.

Eight months later, Attorney General Ryan Pinder explains the reason for the delay.

At the time, the National Oil Spill Contingency Advisory Committee determined that ferix, a slightly corrosive chemical used for water treatment and fertilizer and heavy fuel oil was observed on the water surface.

Pinder asserts that if there is an environmental impact, appropriate action will follow.
