NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The owner of a popular tourist attraction featuring swimming pigs is defending his business amid pushback from Adelaide residents who want the tour to be shut down. The businessman says he followed the proper protocols before launching “Beyond the Village”.

Keile Campbell reports.

An Airbnb has expanded into “Beyond Da Village”, a swimming pigs tour that was launched last April.

Adelaide Resident Sam Duncombe has long had disputes with operators of the location as well as another swimming pigs excursion, Da Pig Beach.

Beach Drive Housing Association President Rupert Stewart says residents are concerned the increased traffic in the area may lead to an increase in home invasions and break-ins.

He added residents have signed a petition calling for the businesses’ removal.

Owner of Beyond Da Village Charles Johnson says he has received the necessary licenses and grants needed for his operation and he’s breaking no laws.

Johnson added that his operation has been inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Tourism, and police.

A town hall meeting is scheduled for March 10th. However, Johnson pointed out a restaurant, bar, and Airbnb’s are already operating in the area.
