NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Schools closed early today as hundreds of teachers headed to the polls to select top posts in The Bahamas Union of Teachers.

Crashan Johnson, a music teacher at C.R. Walker Sr. High School tells us why she’s casting her vote today.

We also caught up with some of today’s candidates, including current president, Belinda Wilson, who said in an exclusive interview with on the record last month, that this run would be her last.

The long-time BUT president is being challenged by Dion Johnson, and long-standing union member Jacqueline McKenzie. McKenzie says her priority will be transparency and member empowerment.
