Team Bahamas Beats USVI on Opening Night

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A complete game on the mound, production from the top of the lineup and a raucous home crowd at the Andre Rodgers Stadium led Team Bahamas to an opening night win at the 6th Caribbean Baseball Cup.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A complete game on the mound, production from the top of the lineup and a raucous home crowd at the Andre Rodgers Stadium led Team Bahamas to an opening night win at the 6th Caribbean Baseball Cup.

The Bahamas won 3-1 over the U.S. Virgin Islands in the feature game Wednesday night.

Deshaughn Forbes pitched a complete game for The Bahamas and gave up just two hits, with four strikeouts in seven innings.

At the plate, the veterans in the outfield led the way for Team Bahamas.

Chavez Young went 2-3 and scored 2 runs, D’shawn Knowles was 1-3 with two rbi and Kristin Munroe went 1-3 with a run.

The Bahamas takes on st. Maarten tonight in game two.

NBA

Buddy Hield had one of the most efficient games of his career, Deandre Ayton had a double double, and Kai Jones is officially back – all that, and this was just night one.

Hield and the Golden State Warriors won the head to head matchup against Ayton and the Portland Trailblazers 139 – 104 last night at the Moda Center in Portland.

The ambassador scored a game high 22 points in just 15 minutes off the bench.

He shot 8-12 from the field, 5-7 from three, and added five rebounds.

Ayton began the season with a double double, 10 points and a game high 11 rebounds.

In Los Angeles, it was a debut for Kai Jones with Clippers and the debut of their new intuit dome.

Jones finished with six points and four rebounds off the bench in 13 minutes of a 116-113 overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Bahamas Bowl

Believe it or not, we’re nearing the end of the college football season, that means we’re one step closer to that Bahamas Bowl matchup to kickoff the 2025 bowl season.

Let’s check in on Conference-USA.

Utep has some work to do if they want to become bowl eligible and get to The Bahamas, but the won their first game of the season, 30-21 triumph over Florida International.

In the player spotlight, New Mexico state defensive end Kale Edwards had four sacks and seven tackles in a 33-30 overtime win over Louisiana Tech. 

Midweek Maction is always exciting and Miami (Ohio) – who appeared in the 2022 Bahamas Bowl – improved to 3-4 when they won the rivalry game over the Ohio Bobcats, 30-20. 

Western Michigan running back Jaden Nixon ran for 114 yards and three touchdowns, in a 48-41 over Buffalo.
