NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The 50th edition of the CARIFTA games are in full swing at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium and team Bahamas is lighting up the tracks.

Day 1 of competition saw team Bahamas storming out the gate making advances in several track and field events.

Team Bahamas currently sits in second position overall with a medal count of 11 including 2 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals trailing Jamaica who has a total of 22 medals.

Several Bahamian athletes advancing to the semis and finals of their respective events.

Jamiah Nabbie setting a personal best time of 24.28 seconds to advance in the under-17 girls 200 metre finals. Nabbie, who won the gold in the 100 metres under 17 girls’ final on Saturday, shared the strategy that led to her win.

Then it was Adam Musgrove advancing easily in the under 20 boys 200 metre event with a time of 21.48 seconds. Adam says despite experiencing disappointment in the 100 metre race yesterday, he had no doubt coming into today’s race.

Annae Mackey placed fourth in the girls under 20 shot put finals.

She says she’s proud of her performance as it’s the first time she has thrown at the carifta level

Team Bahamas picked up additional medals on day two.
