VALENCIA, SPAIN – Things are looking great for Team Bahamas in Spain; it can’t be said any better than Buddy Hield said Wednesday in the locker room after the game – “When you’re around a bunch of Bahamians, it’s always fun.”
We’re all together, we’re all ready to make history, that’s pretty much the whole deal.
RENALDO: Give us a sense of how big of a breakout star VJ Edgecombe is becoming because all across social media, in every basketball conversation it’s really been about him.
JOHN-MARC: VJ is the X-factor. You have Buddy Hield, Eric Gordon, and Deandre Ayton on the court at the same time, and in the fourth quarter who’s bringing the ball up the court? An 18-year-old kid headed to Baylor.
The crowd knows he makes blockbuster plays. The first game in Finland he had a poster and he’s tried to do it every game.
I was on the elevator with the Finland PR guy and he said, this VJ Edgecombe, we did not expect that from him.
RENALDO: Is there a contribution from a team member that the general public doesn’t know about, or doesn’t show up on the stat sheet?
JOHN-MARC: One of the biggest keys to this team is Travis Munnings. He wasn’t there for the exhibitions, but he’s always been a vocal leader and we know Travis is the one who’s going to take this team to the next level defensively and his attitude is always on the plus side.
