NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Team Bahamas fought hard but ultimately fell short in the gold medal matchup at the Caribbean Baseball Cup, settling for silver after a 5–1 loss to Curaçao in the tournament finale at the Andre Rodgers National Stadium. With the win, Curaçao secured the final qualifying spot for next year’s CAC Games.

The tournament showcased strong performances from Team Bahamas throughout group play. They opened with a 3–2 victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands, followed by the most dominant win of the competition with a 29–0 rout of the Dominican Republic. The team then dropped a close 2–1 game to Curaçao before bouncing back with a 2–1 win over Sint Maarten to finish the group stage.

Toby Simmons and Daunte Stuart were selected to the All Tournament Team. Ellison Hanna led the team in home runs and Chavez Fernander led in strikeouts. Hanna said the loss was difficult but added that baseball teaches resilience and the importance of moving forward.

Team Bahamas also delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 CARIFTA Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Trinidad and Tobago. The 32 member team finished third overall with 44 total medals including eight gold, 11 silver and 25 bronze.

Level 7 athlete Kia Bazaard was one of the top performers of the meet, earning four gold medals in beam, bars, vault and the all around division. Other gold medalists included Anai Ingraham on the Level 4 beam, Tatyana Simon on the Level 1 vault and Anayiah Williams on the Level 6 vault.

In basketball news, national team head coach Chris DeMarco, who will soon take over as the head coach of the New York Liberty, had the chance to watch two Bahamian national players compete against each other in the NBA. Sitting courtside with the Golden State Warriors, DeMarco watched Buddy Hield face VJ Edgecombe in a matchup he says represents the growing strength of Bahamian basketball talent.

According to DeMarco, the future is super bright and the competitive fire shown by both players is exactly what he hopes to build upon within the national program.
