NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A New Providence man will spend a decade in prison after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a child.

Acting Justice Joyann Ferguson sentenced 41-year-old Frederick Cleare to 10 years for unlawful sexual intercourse and attempted unlawful sexual intercourse.

The victim reported the sexual assaults in 2021 as an adult.

The jury unanimously found that Cleare molested the woman in 2012 when she was 11 and 12 years old.

The court heard that Cleare was a family friend.
