Team Bahamas Defeats Uruguay, Will Face Argentina in FIBA Pre-Olympic Finals

ARGENTINA – The Bahamas Men’s National Basketball Team beat Uruguay 78-62 to advance to the championship round of the FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

On the basketball side of things, the game was largely uneventful with the favored Bahamas squad taking an early lead and never allowing the Uruguayans in the game at any point.

Unfortunately for team Bahamas, floor general Lourawls “Tum Tum” Nairn was knocked out of the game with a stinger in his shoulder in the first quarter with an injury, slowing down leaving the team’s scorers having to create shots for themselves, which players like Buddy Hield and Eric Gordon had no qualms about doing.

Hield led the attack for Team Bahamas with 17 points and Gordon added 13.

Deandre Ayton had 9 and 9 as he was swamped by the Uruguay defense who ran double and triple-teams at him whenever he touched the ball.

Franco Miller came off the bench with 13 points.

The team will play in a rematch of Thursday’s game against Argentina tomorrow night at 8pm Bahamas time.

Nairn is expected to play.
