NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Inagua is often called the best-kept secret, home to many prolific Bahamian entertainers. The island’s power seems to reach visitors, as Spider found out when the music bug bit him during his time there.

Philip Fernander left Inagua a changed man after his deployment there some 13 years ago. Some might even say he left with musical superpowers.

Despite the island’s beauty, Fernander, a 22-year-old Royal Bahamas Defense Force Veteran, says he didn’t find much to do during his deployment but write. That’s when the music took over, and before he knew it, he was caught in the web.

Fernander, better known now as ‘Spider’, is a marine by day, but just like spiderman, his musical alter ego takes over whenever needed.

Fernander found his voice with the help of more seasoned artists like Avvy and Ira Storr, among others. Spider got the hang of spinning his web at da backyard, ira’s spot.

Now a little older and wiser, he recalls when his father played an active part in helping push the Bahamian musical culture forward, and he’s doing his part to protect the culture for this generation and others to come.

In this day and age, when the cost of everything has skyrocketed, Spider says he wants to give you his latest track for free.

Take a listen to his latest release on Facebook and Youtube and see if you can avoid the track’s infectious beat and Spider’s lyrical delivery.
