NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Crimes against a person is not the only worrying trend for police.

The country’s brightest minds came together this week to discuss ways to beef up cyber security amid what the national security minister says is an increase in cyber attacks.

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe revealing there has been an increase in cyber-attacks and data breaches to The Bahamas’ public infrastructure.

His comments came at the second annual national computer incident response team stakeholder engagement conference.

Munroe also says that more Bahamians are online with low levels of digital awareness including businesses whose employees work from home with less secure networks.

But what’s worse is the admission from the national security minister that Bahamians are more susceptible to global threat actors.

The government in its national cyber strategy outlines a five-prong approach to improving the country’s cyber security posture.

Munroe says in order to build cyber security requires and investment in people.
