NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history, Baha Men the category of Best Dance Recording for their song, “Who Let the Dogs Out” at the 2001 43rd Grammy Awards.


In 2011, ground was officially broken for construction to begin on the $3.5 billion mega Baha Mar resort on the iconic Cable Beach strip in Nassau.

Two years later in 2013, Baha Mar officials celebrated its mid-way completion point with a topping off celebration at the billion-dollar resort.


On February 21, 2012 Frederick Green also known as Frederick Neely escaped from police custody while seeking medical attention at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Green was an inmate charged with the 2009 armed robbery of 18 tourists at Earth Village. 

It was the second time an inmate escaped from PMH while under prison guard in just over two months.


On this day in 2014, the first Festival Rum Bahamas was held in Nassau. The festival was dubbed as an enticing mixture of local, regional and international rum exhibitors.
