NASSAU, BAHAMAS – September 27th is World Tourism Day, celebrated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization for the past 44 years.

This year’s local initiatives kicked off last week Thursday for a Family Island leadership Retreat in Exuma.

Now, Director General Latia Duncombe says a major focus is keeping a pipeline of young Bahamians interested in the sector and understanding how the industry works.

We asked the director general for one thing she wants young Bahamians to know about the tourism sector – you can be a lawyer working for a hospitality company and there are other examples and positions available within the sector.
