NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Vietnamese woman who was busted trying to smuggle 27 hermit crabs out of the country has been fined $300.

Mimi No, 59, pleaded guilty to attempting to export a wild animal without a license at her arraignment before Algernon Allen Jr.

No told the magistrate that she collected the crustaceans while swimming on the beach.
She said she didn’t know that her actions were illegal.

No was arrested at the Lynden Pindling International Airport on Monday as she attempted to board a flight to San Jose, California, where she lives.
