NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The nation’s best and brightest took to the track and field, competing in front of an adoring home crowd, all chasing a shot at international competition next month.

There were a few notable finishes:

Terrance Jones won the men’s 100m in 10.15 seconds, while Anthaya Charlton won the women’s race in 11.19 seconds.

Anthonique Strachan, Steven Gardiner, and Shaunae Miller-Uibo, all making comebacks from injuries, returned to action.

Strachan won the 200m finals in 22.79 seconds.

Gardiner finished 4th in the 200m, behind Terrance Jones, Ian Kerr, and Adam Musgrove, placing first, second, and third.

In the women’s 400m, Miller-Uibo finished second behind Printassia Johnson.

National record holder Rhema Otabor dominated the javelin, landing a winning throw of 61.92 meters.

New York Mets defeat San Francisco Giants

Coach Antoan Richardson and the New York Mets demolished his former team, the San Francisco Giants, 12-6.

Pete Alonso went 2-4 with his 250th career home run and 3 RBIs. Francisco Lindor also added four RBIs in the win.

Meanwhile, Jazz Chisholm and the Yankees are in a rough stretch. They lost 2-0 to the Miami Marlins, with Chisholm going 0-2 in the loss.

And in tennis, the Bahamas Davis Cup team is in Trinidad and Tobago for the start of the tournament on Monday.

On the court, Team Bahamas is gearing up to play in the FIBA AmeriCup in less than three weeks in Nicaragua.
