NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The grand opening of the newly redeveloped Nassau Cruise Port is set for late May 2023.

Prime Minister Philip Davis touring the New Nassau Cruise Port, Thursday. Mike Maura, CEO of Nassau Cruise Port Ltd. says they plan on having a grand opening in under six months.

Maura says currently there are 300 people working on the project, with Bahamians making up half of that number.

As for the cost of the project, Maura says spending has been higher than anticipated, just under $300 million.

Based on the new design, Maura says the port can hold up to six larger cruise vessels at a time.

Works Minister Alfred Sears says the signature project will provide a stimulus to Bay Street and open up a myriad of opportunities for those who work in the orange economy.

The cruise port’s grand opening is slated for May 2023.
