The New Providence Native Continues To Advance His Coaching Career

Bowling Green, KY, USA. As a player for Michigan State University and for The Bahamas National team, Lourawls “Tum Tum” Nairn developed a reputation for his extremely high basketball IQ, leadership ability and tenacity as a floor general. Those skills translate perfectly to a career in coaching.

The school announced yesterday that the 29-year-old was promoted to the title of associate head coach

Nairn’s coaching career began at Southern Utah in 2022, following head coach Todd Simon to Kentucky the following year. In his lone season at Bowling Green, the team’s record improved drastically, from 11-20 to 20-14 and they made it to the second round of the MAC tournament.

Nairn also coached at his alma maters, Michigan State and Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas and was a coaching intern for the Phoenix Suns. He’s also moonlighted on the Bahamas National team while coaching, helping them win the FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifier in Argentina last year, the biggest win in the program’s history.

As Nairn’s intelligence and leadership continue to shine, don’t be shocked of the “Associate” gets dropped from his title soon.
