NASSAU, BAHAMAS – For decades, The Bahamas and the United States have maintained a diplomatic relationship. The U.S. Charge d’Affaires says that relationship remains strong.

As the nation will be celebrating 50 years of independence this July, this year also marks the 50th anniversary of U.S. diplomatic relations with The Bahamas.

A key partner in the bilateral relationship is the U.S. Charge d’Affaires, a role Usha Pitts currently fills.

But she says the work does not stop there.

During her tenure, both countries were plagued with challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s something she says they’re still trying to tackle today.
