BIMINI, BAHAMAS – I may not be a snorkeler or a scuba diver, but on this day, I got the chance to explore the underwater habitats and sea life just off the southern coast of Bimini.

It’s all part of Bimini Semi Submarine Adventures, a new Bahamian-owned company set to welcome its first passengers next month, offering a fresh, family-friendly marine activity for residents and visitors alike.

At the helm of the ship is Captain Sylvano Riffin, an Abaco native who says the semi-sub offers an unforgettable experience.

With only half of the sub submerged underwater, passengers get a close-up look at coral reefs and marine life during an hour-long ride through the crystal-clear waters of Bimini’s bustling bay.

And Riffin says it’s perfect for all ages.

“We welcome everybody that wants that experience and for some people Bimini attracts a lot of people with the dive sites which means some people can get in a wet suit and others can’t but they want to see what’s going on underneath the water so this is a perfect experience for not on the visitors but also the residents and the kids.”

The launch of the new company has also created job opportunities. Riffin is just one of several hard-working employees.

“I’m from one of the boating capitals in the world and just being here alone is no words for me. So just being able to add to what this island already has is something special.”

Bimini Semi Submarine Adventures officially launches on November 1.
