NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A rare opportunity to compete at the highest level of college sports and represent the country at the same time, VJ Edgecombe called playing in Baha Mar Hoops one of the most memorable moments of his young career.

The Baylor Bears freshman phenom averaged 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists per game and shot 45 percent from three in his two games at the Continental Tire Baha Mar Hoops Men’s Championship.

Over the course of the event, Edgecombe paid homage to The Bahamas both on and off the court.

At one point he wore a pair of Bahamas flag themed customized Kobe Bryant 5’s first popularized by Buddy Hield.

NCAA Women’s Basketball

Up next on the floor at Baha Mar Hoops, Coach Yo, Rhema Collins and Ole Miss in the Women’s Championship.

The no.17 team in the AP Pool tipped off competition earlier Monday afternoon in game one of the Continental Tire Baha Mar Women’s Championship against the Boston College Eagles.

Ole Miss is looking for their first win against an ACC opponent since beating Georgia Tech, in March of 2015. Headed into this week they’ve gone 1-3 in the last four matchups against ACC opponents.

Collins, the sophomore forward has played sparingly this season, and will have her first opportunity to play at home in an Ole Miss uniform.

Ole Miss previously played at Baha Mar Hoops in 2022, when they reached the final of the Pink Flamingo Championships, before a loss to Utah.

Baseball

The Bahamas Baseball Association is looking to make another leap in the World Baseball Softball Confederation rankings.

They’ll have a chance to do so at the under 15 Caribbean Baseball Cup December 4-9 at the Andre Rodgers National Stadium.

This team previously boosted the country’s ranking from 59 to 47 at under 15 Pan Am qualifiers last March in the Dominican Republic.
