NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A now controversial video was posted by CBS Bahamas Vice President of Retail and Sales Brent Burrows on X, formally known as Twitter.

It reveals agents from government departments, including NIB, Customs, Department of Inland Revenue, Immigration, and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, had shown up at their Carmichael Road store unannounced in the middle of a busy shopping day.

He says it was not only disruptive but also deeply alarming for both customers and staff.

But what does the head of that government task force have to say?

Task Force Commander Bertram Bowleg was on the defense, saying it was a part of their routine visit to businesses in the area to check their compliance.

Bowleg adds the task force is responsible for making sure businesses are updated with their customs duties, immigration fees, and NIB fees, as well as Department of Inland Revenue taxes and business license fees.

But the question is, is this all necessary? Bowleg says.

But opposition leader Michael Pintard disagrees and insists the Davis administration is weaponizing governmental agencies.
