NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It is considered liquid gold as breast milk is filled with all the necessary nutrients to ensure healthy baby growth.

If you are a mother and have the ability to produce breast milk, The Bahamas National Breastfeeding Association is encouraging you to breastfeed.

President Trineka Hall is also encouraging mothers not to practice what she calls combo feeding.

Breastfeeding is said to have benefits for both mother and baby.

Lactation consultant and midwife Anna Forbes says she has seen a recent increase in allergies and sensitivity to baby formula.

This year’s theme focuses on working mothers who breastfeed, and the association is encouraging employers to ensure there are provisions in place to allow mothers to do so.

Now for mothers who are unable to breastfeed or may be having challenges, the women at the National Breastfeeding Association say they’re always available to offer assistance.
