NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This week we celebrated International Women’s Day, where we spoke to some of the top I.T. ladies at the Cable Bahamas Group of Companies.

Robyn Rolle, Lekeita Adderley, Tanya Bain are the women behind a lot of what happens on your screens.

We’ve talked about their roles and the realities of working in tech, now we’re sharing what inspired them to join the field.

Application and Support Development Specialist, Tanya Bain, tells Our News it was her aunt’s home computer that inspired her interest, which started in playing solitaire on the computer and this developed into an interest in coding!

Application Support Lead, Robyn Rolle tells us computers only became an interest to her toward the end of high school when their first computer had the campus buzzing with excitement.

As for I.T. Project Manager Lekeita Adderley, her passion for the field was so strong she became the person introducing the world of tech to future generations.

Women are greatly under represented in tech, with some research saying women holding only 15% of engineering jobs, and that black women come in at only 2.2%.

But on the bright side, it means there’s room for you to be one of the next best and brightest women in tech.
