NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Works and Utilities is looking to improve the two bridges on Andros.

In looking to create new and safer bridges in Andros, the Ministry of Works and Utilities engaged BRON Limited.

As Managing Principal of Infrastructure Kevin Sweeting explains the partnership which started in 2020 started with an assessment to plot the way forward for the Fresh Creek and Stafford Creek bridges.

Sweeting says the bridges are in a poor state and are more than 60-years-old.

Both bridges are single-lane roadways and were both able to open at one point, but Sweeting says the swing decks have been locked in place .

He says they first had to understand the existing conditions of the bridge.

The company also consulted utility companies.

BRON Limited also explored options that were in line with the ministry’s needs.
