Youth Mentor’s Son Pleads Guilty for Drugs

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The son of anti-crime activist Carlos Reid Sr. has pleaded guilty to having drugs in his possession. 

The guilty plea by 31-year-old Carlos Reid Jr comes after his arrest on April 17th of this year.

Officers stopped the heavily-tinted Chevy Cruze that Reid was driving on Bernard Road of when the found one pound and seven ounces of marijuana in his car with a combined value of $1,560.

When interviewed by police officers, Reid said, “I had that to smoke. I don’t sell nothing; I just love weed.”

Nonetheless, police charged him with drug possession with intent to supply.

Reid denied the intent to supply accusation and pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of drug possession when he appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

He gave Reid the choice of paying an $1,800 fine or spending six months in prison.

The convict’s father, a former gang member, runs a mentorship programme aimed at steering troubled youths from a life of crime.
