NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 26-year-old police constable has been arrested and charged in connection with a stabbing that stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Prosecutors allege that Shanton Bethel stabbed his 25-year-old friend Kramar Casanova in the head, forearm and neck on October 19 in western New Providence.

Casanova has since been released from the hospital.

The incident allegedly happened six days after Bethel graduated from the Police Training College.

Bain pleaded not guilty to a charge of grievous bodily harm at his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on Friday.

He was granted $5,000 bail with one or two sureties.

The matter has been adjourned to December 19.
