RBDF To Expand Chaplaincy Department

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Aimed at tackling the emotional and mental needs of law enforcement officers, a chaplaincy training program was held for local law enforcement agencies. This, as the defence force chief is saying he plans to expand the department to better attend to the RBDF officers.

The Chaplaincy department at the Royal Bahamas Defence Force is expanding, according to Defence Force Commodore Dr. Raymond King.

King says the plan is to have a chaplain’s aide in each department, at every branch, and onboard every vessel and detachment to ensure the needs of service members are addressed efficiently and timely.

This vision gave birth to a free Law Enforcement Chaplain Training Program in partnership with the Billy Graham International Chaplaincy Program.

The Bible-based training is designed to further equip those who feel God’s calling to minister to the law enforcement community, as a current law enforcement chaplain, an active duty, or retired officer.

RBDF Chaplain Apostle Raymond Wells outlines the training sessions. The program was opened to all law enforcement officers.

Wells who is also the senior pastor of Living Waters Kingdom Ministries where the event was held, said the plan is to hold this form of training annually.

He says since he stepped into the role, he’s seen firsthand the trauma military officers face, noting it has changed his perspective.

Ferguson City Missouri Police Chief Frank McCall attended the event and stressed to officers that they’re not alone.
