DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – The death toll from the Jet Set Nightclub collapse in Santo Domingo has now risen to 218, with 189 people rescued after the roof came crashing down early Tuesday morning.

The popular club was packed for a concert by beloved Merengue singer Rubby Perez, who sadly was among the dead.

Families have been keeping vigil outside the rubble, hoping for news.

Emergency crews are still digging through debris, as a national tribute will be held today to honour Perez and the lives lost.
