NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The man accused of killing a woman and her daughter in Long Island was granted $9,900 bail after prosecutors missed multiple trial dates.

Prosecutors say Nathan Harding, of Salt Pond, Long Island, murdered his grand aunt Jane Harding, 62, and her daughter Melissa Hui, 34, after kidnapping them and raping them.

They were reported missing on February 25, 2020 after Hui failed to report to work.
Their disappearance became a murder investigation after search teams found the relatives buried under rocks on a beach in Salt Pond on February 28.

The case had been scheduled multiple times for trial, but the matter couldn’t proceed because the prosecution didn’t have scientific reports.

As a result of the delays, Harding’s lawyer Bjorn Ferguson applied for bail. The prosecution did not oppose the application.

Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson ordered Harding to remain in New Providence and have no deliberate contact with prosecution witnesses.

Additionally, he has to sign in at a police station three times a week.

Harding’s trial is now set for August 2023.
