NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Transport Minister Jobeth Coleby-Davis says she is extremely concerned about the number of recent boating incidents in the country.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Transport Minister Jobeth Coleby-Davis says she is extremely concerned about the number of recent boating incidents in the country.
Just after 8am, Wednesday, the M/V Legacy ran aground near Egg Island, off Spanish Wells in Eleuthera.
This comes just a month after the M/V Onego traveller ran aground in the Abacos.
The minister says the concern is the potential effect of the impact on our environment.
The M/V Legacy provides mailboat service to Marsh Harbour, Abaco. Transport officials say the boat was en route from New Providence when it lost generator power.
The cargo onboard included 45-hundred gallons of diesel, five cars, a tar truck, and other miscellaneous cargo items.
Coleby-davis gave this update on the m/v legacy when she spoke to our news shortly after midday today.
