Two Week Deadline for Gov’t and Gas Retailers

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Government is asking The Bahamas Petroleum Retailers Association for two weeks to come up with a resolution to their concerns.

This after the association finally met with government, Monday, to discuss the industry’s ongoing issues and challenges.

Prime Minister Philip Davis asking the Bahamas Retailers Association to give government more time – two weeks to be exact – to assess how they can better assist.

This after the association took to the media following several attempts to meet with government to request a change in the profit margin for its members.

On Tuesday, the prime minister and others expressed sympathy to the association over its viability.

As to why this meeting has been delayed, Economic Affairs Minister Michael Halkitis said they have been meeting with the association.

The association has primarily asked government for an increase on the currently fixed margin of 54 cents per gallon.
