Former Health Minister Dr. Duane Sands is slamming the government’s COVID response. He suggested the government is giving the impression that nothing is wrong as the country records over 100 cases daily.

Former Health Minister Dr. Duane Sands is lashing out at the Davis administration charging that there seems to be a disconnect be rhetoric and actions taken to combat the Covid-19 spread. His comments come as the country grapples with the fourth wave of Covid-19.

Since December 27th, the country saw a scary surge in Covid-19 cases and an increase in hospitalization. Last month, the Davis administration placed a ban on large gatherings as the country saw record cases.

Despite a current drop in cases, Sands warned that this is not a good place to be in and stressed that there’s no perception by the government that anything is wrong. He said more must be done to reduce Covid spread.

The former health minister is pushing back at those who say the FNM is the party of lockdowns and curfew and reiterated that the response to Covid needs to be measured. Also, if the rationale is to let the virus burn out, he questioned how many lives is the government willing to lose?
