NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Taxi drivers are outraged at news that a fare increase is on the way for the industry as they feel they deserve more.

In her budget communication last month, transport Minister Jobeth Coleby-Davis revealed an increase is coming, but she didn’t say by how much or when that increase will come.

But, these drivers say officials informed them the increase will be 10% which they estimate equates to an additional three dollars.

Taxi drivers have been pushing for an increase for quite some time.

Back in December, Taxi Cab Union President Wesley Ferguson revealed taxi drivers were eying a 30 percent increase.

Seven months later, and some taxi drivers say they weren’t consulted.
