NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis wasting no time in his contribution to the mid-year budget debate last evening calling the Prime Minister’s Budget Communication the worst one ever.

Berthony McDermott reports.

The former Free National Movement (FNM) leader didn’t stop there.

He said Prime Minister Philip Davis budget statement lacked the vision to transform the country’s ailing economy and assist hurting Bahamians.

According to Dr. Minnis, since taking office, the Davis-led government only implemented policies that created economic hardship for Bahamians and accused them of being heartless.

During his contribution to the mid-year budget debate, Dr. Minnis referenced a Nassau Guardian editorial that spoke to the government’s performance thus far.

But as referenced those comments. Works Minister Alfred Sears rose multiple times on a point of order, requesting the comments either be withdrawn or struck from the record.

They were eventually struck from the record.

But Dr. Minnis continued the blistering attack and questioned the government’s plan in the wake of hurricane Dorian and COVID-19.

The former Prime Minister also questioned the recent mask mandate change for hotels which he called a clear show of discrimination.

He said it appears the new day government has no real solution to combat the country’s challenges.
