NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Royal Bahamas Police Force is boasting that crime is trending down. Police Press Liaison Officer Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings told reporters it seems the measures implemented are working. She also attributes the decrease to assistance from the public.

2024 got off to a rocky start with a spate of homicides. It prompted the commissioner of police to put a plan in place that consisted of saturation patrol and other measures. The senseless bloodshed also prompted the prime minister to release a comprehensive plan to fight crime. Despite the downward trend, Skippings also responded to critics who still feel more could be done by the police.

But Skippings says some work needs to be done by the public. She says parents need to step up.
