Investigators From UK To Assist Probe Into Former CID Chief

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Investigators from the United Kingdom are on their way here to oversee investigations into those highly controversial voice notes, which eventually led to the head of CID.

The statement from police confirms UK-based investigators arrive next week to begin investigating this widely publicized and controversial case.

Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander confirms senior officials from the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) are “personally overseeing” investigations into the leaked voice notes of a conversation allegedly between CID Chief Michael Johnson, a lawyer, and two murdered suspects, Michael Fox Jr. and Dino Smith.

The commissioner, through the statement, describes the arrival of these NCA officials as a “significant step to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations against former CID Chief Johnson.”

The NCA team will include John Michael McKeon, the head of the NCA’s Anti-Corruption Unit, Andrew John Black, a senior investigator, and Francisco Savvaki Kyriarou, an NCA investigator based in Miami.

They are scheduled in town from August 14th to the 17th.

In contrast, opposition leader Michael Pintard has criticized the government for what he describes as a “lack of urgency” and “transparency” over the investigation.

Pintard says he’s concerned that “public confidence in law enforcement, policymakers, and the entire criminal justice system” is being undermined.

He highlighted recent murders that might be linked to the investigation and questioned whether the Minister of National Security and the Prime Minister will address the growing trust issues among the public.
