NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It’s a long standing Junkanoo tradition – group leaders head to the barrel, pick a number that decides when they enter the parade route and then share their group’s synopsis.

This year, there are 8 groups in the A category and they’re all eager to walk away Junkanoo champs but, there can only be one.

Picking what many consider the dreaded number 1 is Music Makers and they’ll be followed by defending champions Shell Saxons Superstars.

Then there’s the Prodigals Sons in third. Drawing the fourth entry, the Valley Boys Aldeka Colebrooke says they’ve got a point to prove this year after competing as a fun group last year.

Entering fifth will be Roots Junkanoo Group. Group Marshall Demetri Higgs shares their theme.

They’re followed by One Family. And Genesis Warhawks will enter 7th. Bass leader Danari Rolle tells us what they’re bringing to both parades.

And closing the parade in eighth, World Famous 1958. Frontline Director, John Williams says no matter where they are on the lineup, they’re ready to take it all.
