NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An all-Bahamian Christmas pop-up market was held over the weekend, and out of the 50-plus vendors, more than 90% were women. We spoke to the event’s organizer about the challenges of being a woman with a business.

When Kache Knowles birthed the “IisaBahamianbey” brand back in 2019, she never thought it would grow as quickly as it has. She took her passion for Bahamian culture and meshed it with retail.

Now, the brand has grown by leaps and bounds but she says it’s not easy and she along with other women entrepreneurs struggle daily with keeping on top of their businesses.

She also admitted to sometimes getting in her own way.

Out of the 56 vendors at Knowles’ pop-up this past weekend, 52 were women.
