NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After closing its doors for more than a year, the historic British Colonial Hotel is set to return just in time for the winter season, after undergoing a $50 million upgrade.

British Colonial Hotel Managing Director Craig Martin is calling it a significant renovation for the historic hotel.

He says while he’s seen the hotel undergo renovations over the years, none were as extensive as this one.

The hotel hasn’t welcomed guests since February 2022.

When the hotel reopens this winter, Martin says the plan is to more than triple the employee numbers from the previous 120 workers.

Training for prospective employees is set for the fall and bookings will be open on September 1st.

Over its nearly 100-year history, the hotel carried many different brand names.

Martin says that’s about to change.
