PLP MP To Stand Trial On Rape, Assault and Death Threat Charges

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – North Abaco MP Kirk Cornish has been formally committed to stand trial on charges of rape, assault and threats of death. 

Cornish received the evidence that prosecutors will present at his trial when he received his voluntary bill of indictment when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux.

Cornish will be arraigned on the allegations before Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson on October 27.

Prosecutors say the crimes allegedly took place in Coopers Town, Abaco and in Nassau, New Providence  between January 20, 2023 and April 4, 2023.

Cornish is accused of raping and assaulting a 35-year-old woman on March 5 while on New Providence.

On April 4, while on New Providence, he is accused of raping the woman and threatening to kill her.Cornish is accused of assaulting the complainant on January 20 while in Cooper’s Town, Abaco.
