ABACO, BAHAMAS – The North Abaco Member of Parliament Kirk Cornish making a bold statement at an event in Abaco.

Cornish telling Abaconians on Sunday that he is the prime minister of the island. His comments came at an event honoring residents there, including himself.

In his address, Cornish sought to explain what it means to be the parliamentary secretary in the Office of The Prime Minister and the area MP.

Cornish was elected to parliament for the first time in September 2016.

Cornish, who was questioned by police over an allegation made by an Abaco woman earlier this year, is not a member of the cabinet.

In terms of authority, the prime minister is followed by the deputy prime minister and all the members of the cabinet.

In his remarks, which garnered a thunderous applause, Cornish revealed that he could use his power if he wished but said he chooses not to.
