NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper has formally requested that police investigate a voice note that is circulating on WhatsApp.

Cooper briefly discussed the matter with reporters, today, on the sidelines of a good governance symposium hosted by the organization for responsible governance.

In a letter addressed to Commissioner of Police Paul Rolle on February 24th, the Deputy Prime Minister references a voice note that he says makes false allegations against him. He adds, the voice note accuses him of conflict of interest.

Cooper said, today, for too long in The Bahamas, public servants and ministers have allowed their names to be smeared sometimes without responding appropriately. He asserted enough is enough.
