GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Bus drivers on Grand Bahama echoed the sentiments of their counterparts in the capital. They do not believe the recent fare increase for bus rides is sufficient.

For Timothy Nottage, the increase is simply, an insult.

From the cost of fuel to the difference in size between Grand Bahama and New Providence, Roland Miller believes the fares should be different for each island.

Although the Ministry of Energy and Transport notes that town hall meetings were held on the affected islands, both men maintain that Grand Bahama drivers were not consulted before the raise.

The last increase for bus drivers was in 2008, some 16 years ago. Nottage shares what he believes would be a fair cost for longer routes.

Miller says there are aspects he agrees with.
