Guyana: Deadly School Fire Inquiry Extended

GUYANA – A commission of inquiry into a deadly school fire on Guyana has been extended by a month. President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali says the extension is intended to facilitate the completion of the probe that was initially set to conclude in October.

GUYANA – A commission of inquiry into a deadly school fire on Guyana has been extended by a month. President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali says the extension is intended to facilitate the completion of the probe that was initially set to conclude in October.

On May 21st, 19 girls and a five-year-old boy lost their lives in the fire that destroyed the building. It was reported that the fire was started by a young student who has since been charged with 20 counts of murder. She has been on remand since May.
