NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The heavy rains this week leaving many New Providence communities with nagging flood waters. Residents near the Carlton Francis Primary School say they are fed up with the continuous flooding.

When Our News arrived at the Carlton Francis Primary School, one woman could be seen carrying a child on her back through inches of water.

It is an issue that is all too familiar to many who have had to come to the school over the years. Teacher Naria Leary says some days the situation is much worse as the water sometimes takes days to settle.

Shop steward at the school, Linda Forbes says she can remember this being an issue as far back as 2004 when she was first assigned to the school.

Parents also expressing their frustration on social media. One parent saying “I don’t know if anyone else is tired but I am sick and tired.”

We also met resident Rita Cartwright, who experienced car troubles from driving through the water.
