NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Housing and Transport Minister Jobeth Coleby-Davis says it appears our democracy is under threat by a small unelected minority.

While contributing to the debate on the Fiscal Strategy Report in Parliament Monday, Coleby-Davis said the group is spewing views that are not based on fact or common sense.

Her comments came days after the Coalition of Independence protested outside the House of Assembly over what they deemed an immigration crisis.

However, as the protest continued, some labelled comments made by protestors as reckless and as an act to incite violence.

Later that week, the Prime Minister received death threats.

While not directly mentioning either situation, the Elizabeth MP said differing opinions or disagreements should not result in disrespect.
