JCNP Elects Executive Team, Only One Valley Faction Recognized

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The recent JCNP elections saw a full turnout, with members of the Junkanoo community voting for positions up for grabs.

The full lists of the new JCNP board members were released this morning and noticeably, no members from the Way Forward Valley Boys was elected.

Public Relations Officer of the Junkanoo Corporation of New Providence John Williams, says that,

“The stance with the J.C.N.P. has actually not changed, and with regards to this, the J.C.N.P. is concerned with the registered members of the J.C.N.P. …as it stands, the Valley Boys is a registered member, that is under the leadership of Brian Adderley.”

In a recent turn of events, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the “Way forward” faction, led by Trevor Davis.

It ruled that “the World Famous Valley Boys” are no longer a registered non-profit organization.

Our News reached out to Culture Minister Mario Bowleg and the leader of the Way Forward, Trevor Davis, for a response, however both declined to comment on the record.

In the meantime, JCNP officials say the focus remains on making Junkanoo bigger and better.

The JCNP is still being led by Dion Miller who was elected for a third consecutive term.
