NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The country’s national sport took center stage at the Montague Foreshore as sailing’s elite came together to decide the “Best of the Best.” The seventh edition of the event featured four exciting days of sailing and approximately 85 sloops from throughout the country.
In the end, Captain Stefan Knowles out of Mangrove Bush, Long Island dominated with a triple crown win in the A, B, and C classes.
In the A-Class, Knowles’ Running Tide took first place, followed by The New Legend in second and Ruff Justice in third place. In the B Class, it was Knowles’ New Susan Chase that took top honors. The Ants Nest II finished in second, and Ole Boy was third. In the C Class, it was Knowles again that took the top spot in the Sassie Sue. The Whitty K finished second, and the Bul Reg was third.
Rounding out the field in the E-Class, Lady Kayla was your top finisher, sailed by Joss Knowles and Keanno Hutchinson out of Georgetown, Exuma. One Bahamas finished second, and Mako claimed third place.

College Football Playoff and Hero World Challenge
Prince Strachan and the Boise State Broncos will continue their historic season in the first edition of the expanded College Football Playoff. The Broncos were named the No. 3 seed and earned a first-round bye. They will take the field on December 31 in the VRBO Fiesta Bowl to take on the winner of the Penn State versus SMU game.
After defeating UNLV in the Mountain West Championship, the Broncos were ranked No. 9, the third-highest conference champion. Boise State has won the Fiesta Bowl three times in program history: 2007, 2010, and 2014.
In 13 games this season, Strachan had 21 receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown. Last season in 14 games, he totaled 12 catches for 274 yards and two touchdowns.
World number 1, Scottie Scheffler, lived up to that top billing and won his second consecutive Hero World Challenge title. Scheffler finished first among the field of 20 of the world’s top golfers to claim the $1 million prize from the event’s $5 million purse. He also tied the 72-hole scoring record for the nine editions of the tournament which have been played at the Albany Resort. Scheffler shot 25-under par and a final round of 63 to surge ahead and top the standings.
Runner-up and world No. 21 Tom Kim shot 19-under, and rounding out the top three was world No. 22 Justin Thomas at 18-under. Scheffler joined host Tiger Woods and Viktor Hovland as the only back-to-back winners of the event. It also marked his fourth consecutive appearance at the event, which includes two wins and two second-place finishes.

Baseball Gold Medal Game and Ole Miss Basketball
Bahamians are encouraged to pack the Andre Rodgers Stadium tonight as our men’s U-15 national baseball team chases history. The Bahamas will face Cuba tonight in the gold medal game of the 2nd Caribbean Baseball Cup. First pitch is at 8 p.m.
In the previous matchup last Friday, the Bahamas defeated Cuba 11-8 in the group stage. In an effort to fill the stands with support for the team, ticket prices have been lowered to just $10 for adults, free for students with ID, and free for children.
It was a career day for Rhema Collins and Coach Yo’s No. 18 ranked Ole Miss squad began a four-game homestand with a dominant win. Collins had a career-high 12 points, four rebounds, and two blocked shots in Ole Miss’ 85-38 win over Tennessee State at the SJB Pavilion on Sunday.
