NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Supreme Court jury has unanimously found Lynden Williams not guilty of killing his romantic rival outside of his home.

Prosecutors alleged that Williams, known as Peanut, shot and killed Cabrio Wells, the brother of former Health Minister Renward Wells,  on August 4, 2019.

Prosecutors alleged that the men were both seeing Shantia McKenzie, who shared an apartment in Ridgeland Park with Wells.

Williams told police that he had cut ties with McKenzie after learning that her boyfriend was a “shooter.”.

The case revolved around conflicting statements from McKenzie.

In a statement to police, she claimed that she saw Williams fleeing the scene soon after she heard gunshots.

However, McKenzie retracted her statement in an affidavit, alleging that police had forced her to implicate Williams.

Police arrested Williams immediately after the murder when they allegedly found a loaded .40 pistol in the closet of the apartment.

McKenzie did not testify at the trial. She was murdered in February 2020.
