NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who attacked his wife’s suspected lover has been jailed for 22 years.

Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns handed down the sentence on Joaquen Augustine, otherwise known as J, after a jury found him guilty by a majority of 6-2.

In passing sentence, Archer-Minns said, “Society is better protected when persons are made aware of the consequences of their actions, even actions done in the heat of the moment.”

Augustine and his wife were roommates with Deno Delancy for two years before the January 7, 2022 knife attack.

As Delancy was leaving their shared home, Augustine attacked him from behind, stabbing him the shoulder and head due to his unfounded belief that Delancy was sleeping with his wife.

During the struggle that followed, Delancy managed to call for help and stab Augustine in the shoulder.
